Connecting to an SD Component Monitor (Down Conversion)
To activate the recorder´s automatic SD down conversion for pre-viewing on an SD component monitor, set the Component Video Output field (in the Recording Format tab of the Settings window) to one of the 480i (NTSC) or 576i (PAL) options. The preferred value in North America is 480iYPbPrSMPTE. When the HDSDI Video Format is HDSDI_1080i_2997 or HDSDI_720p_5994 and the Component Video Output is AnalogOut_480iYPbPrSMPTE, the incoming signal is automatically down converted to SD. Similarly, the recorder will automatically down convert if the clip's video format is 720p5994 or 1080i2997. The following table lists the supported down conversions: HDSDI Video Format | Component Video Output | Result | HDSDI_720p_5000 | AnalogOut_576i (PAL) | 576i on YPbPr outputs | HDSDI_720p_5994 | AnalogOut_480i | 480i on YPbPr outputs | HDSDI_1080i_2500 | AnalogOut_576i (PAL) | 576i on YPbPr outputs | HDSDI_1080i_2997 | AnalogOut_480i | 480i on YPbPr outputs | HDSDI_1080p_2500 | AnalogOut_576i (PAL) | 576i on YPbPr outputs | HDSDI_1080psf_2500 | AnalogOut_576i (PAL) | 576i on YPbPr outputs |
After specifying the output format, you can choose how the recorder scales the image to SD using one of the following Down Conversion Modes: Setting | Description | LetterBox | Scale frame to fit screen, maintains aspect ratio (black borders). | Crop | Crop into frame, do not scale. | Anamorphic | Stretch frame to fill screen, does not maintain aspect ratio |
