Extracting Footage from Wafian Recorders Extract Footage Via Firewire or USB2 Once you have recorded footage on your Wafian recorder, you can copy your footage onto an external drive. To do so simply connect your IEEE 1394A (Firewire) or USB 2 drive to a corresponding port on the front or rear panel of your recorder. Open an Explorer window and notice that your external drive will now appear as an available drive on the system. Simply drag and drop your AVI or MOV media files from their location within M:\Media onto your drive. Once the copying process is complete, disconnect your external drive and continue normal operation of the recorder. File transfer speed will vary, yet can be expected to range between 2x to 3x faster than real-time. Extract Footage Via Gigabit Ethernet Wafian recorders can show up as a node on your local network or detected by a computer when connected to it via Ethernet. Each Wafian recorder is given a unique name based on its serial number. For example, if your serial number is HR1-0003, the system name will be Wafian-HR1-0003. Computers on your network can access your recorder with that name. To use the recorder on a network, a DHCP server must be available to assign an IP Address. Alternatively, you may configure the unit to use a fixed IP address, please consult the Windows documentation. By default, the recorded media is stored in M:\Media. This folder is also shared for read access on the network, so that computers can access the recorded media with the following path: \\wafian-hr1-0003\media * While file transfer time will vary depending on your connection bandwidth, you should expect file transfer speed to be between 200 to 300 megabits per second. * Replace hr1-0003 with your recorder's Serial Number. |
